Solitary Hours

Loneliness is an uncompromising tutor
To one with a broken heart
What value, diamonds or silver
They cannot hinder tears that start.

Oh! That I might see the happiness
That mirrors in your eyes
Like all of nature's splendid colors
Blended with a moonlit sky.

No untimely breeze could start
And end with tempest strong
And match the turmoil of my heart
As it cries it's lonely song.

Forbid the days to slowly pass,
Forbig the nights to enclose me
But let tender memories reach out
And stir thoughts of happiness within me.
